Taiwan Round-Island Trip Jan '09 (Part 3)...台湾环岛之旅09年(3)...台湾ラウンドアイランドトリップ(3)...

San Hsia, Neiwan, Yilan, Su-Ao, Shiding and Shenkeng:

During this trip back to Taiwan, I went to San Hsia and Neiwan with my uncle and aunts too which are in the Hsinchu area i think and also had a short trip over to Taiwan's East Coast of Yilan, which is a popular countryside getaway for Taipei residents whom wanna escape from the hustle and bustle of Taipei city on holidays or weekends. We then stopped over at Shiding Old Street and Shengkeng Old Street for it's famous Tofu dishes...yummmyyy:-) It is only 1/2 hr drive from Taipei due to the massively efficient transportation system of Taiwan nowadays whereas 10 years ago, it'd taken 2-3hrs to get there cos they spent a decade dozing through a hill and there's now a highway through the hill connecting Taipei directly to Yilan county...

It was really nice being able to visit these places as well besides my Taiwan Round-Island Trip..i really got to explore and discover in-depth the most on this trip to Taiwan:-)

Below: Making tofu old-style, i think this would be one of the rare times for me to see people making tofu old-style...need alot of energy it seemed!!!!

Above: Shengkeng Old Street's sumptious dinner of tofu, in all its varieties...i loved the
红烧豆腐 the best because it reminded me of a taste from my childhood days which i had all but forgotten..

Above: Cheap Sashimi at Su-Ao Fishing Harbour cos its direct from the fisherman's trawl...it's extremely fresh mind you, given that they're sold direct from the day's catch to wholesale distributors...i even saw people bargaining fish prices when the catch came in!!!!:-)

Above: Su-Ao fishing market....

Above: Su-Ao Harbour..alot of seafood is brought in here and supplied to Taipei city...do you notice the green and red lighthouses in the top pics?? Interesting, i wondered....

Above: Went cycling at the park above...

Above and Below: Taiwanese-style breakfast!!!! My First at a hotel/villa!!! I misssss it soooo much...and with a view over the wetlands too:-)

Above: The country villa which we stayed at Yilan...its situated amongst paddy fields...

Above: The huge Luodong Sports Field...you know the difference b/w a developed and no-so developed country by the public facilities available even in the rural areas...like this fantastic field which has a massive stadium/tracks in Luodong...

Above: Some famous meat starchy ball noodles of Yilan County...my, the chilli paste was fierce...taiwanese ppl must have grown accustomed to eatin spicy food in the last 10 yrs..i rem alot of taiwanese people, and still my dad now, being unable to eat even the slightest spiciness in our Malaysian cooking when in Malaysia..but the chilli paste above is damn good man!!!

Above: Yilan County, East Coast rural Taiwan...

Above: Some go-kart place at Neiwan...i played it for the 1st time in a decade i think..took a photo of some other players on the route..

Above: Neiwan district...
...and what better way to end the day from Yilan/Shengkeng old street than to have a bowl of Crushed fruit ice at Ice monster on Yongkang Street with my cousin KJ?:-)
